Thomas Burrow (
29 June 1909 -8 June 1986 ) was anIndologist and the Boden Professor ofSanskrit at theUniversity of Oxford from 1944 to 1976. His work includesDravidian Etymological Dictionary ,The Problem of Shwa in Sanskrit and The Sanskrit Language.Early life
Burrow was born at
Leck in NorthLancashire , the eldest of the six children of Joshua and Frances Eleanor Burrow. He attended Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Kirkby Lonsdale, and won a scholarship to Christ's College, Cambridge.
